Robin's pizza sauce

A slightly spicy, slightly sweet tomato sauce that's great for your next French bread pizza.

schedule 30 minutes
TOTAL TIME
schedule 40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 28 ounce can of whole peeled tomatoes (San Marzano preferred)
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 12 to 1 teaspoon red chili flakes (depending on spice preference)
  • 12 teaspoon dried basil
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

Directions:

Add all ingredients into a food processor and process on low until smooth, about 3 minutes.

Pour into medium sauce pan and slowly bring to simmer over medium-low heat.

Cover the pan and reduce heat to low. Simmer 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, uncover pan and remove it from heat.

Let sauce rest for 1 hour or until it is room temperature.

Transfer to container and place in refrigerator for 4 hours or overnight for best flavor. Store in fridge for up to a week.
