Robin's pizza sauce

A slightly spicy, slightly sweet tomato sauce that's great for your next thin crust, thick crust, or even French bread-style pizza.

Ingredients:

  • 28 ounce can of whole peeled tomatoes (San Marzano preferred)
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 12 to 1 teaspoon red chili flakes (depending on spice preference)
  • 12 teaspoon dried basil
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

Directions:

Add all ingredients into a food processor and process on low until smooth, about 3 minutes.

Pour into a medium saucepan and slowly bring to a simmer over medium-low heat.

Cover the pan and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, uncover the pan and remove it from the heat.

Let the sauce rest for 1 hour or until it is at room temperature.

Transfer to container and place in refrigerator for 4 hours or overnight for best flavor. Store in the fridge for up to a week.
